Early Childhood Enrollment
Durango Montessori's Early Childhood program provides traditional mixed-age classrooms for students 3 to 6 years of age.
Early Childhood Enrollment Process:
Durango Montessori School enrolls children ages 3 through 6 in our Early Childhood classrooms (preschool through kindergarten). Please review the steps below to understand our enrollment process.

Prospective Early Childhood (preschool-Kindergarten) Families:
-
Complete the Early Childhood Prospective Family Form:
-
Families are welcome to complete a Prospective Family Form to express interest in joining our school for the current or upcoming school year (Sept. 1st for the upcoming school year).
-
Completing this form does not guarantee a spot for enrollment. It begins the process.
-
Your child must be at least 3 years old or turn three by August 15th of the next school year for you to be eligible to fill out a Prospective Family Form. (We are a licensed preschool for 3 to 6-year-olds; we can not admit 2-year-olds).
-
-
-
Family Meet & Greet:
-
If there is an opening in one of our Early Childhood classrooms, the Director will begin to reach out to schedule an in-person meeting with the prospective family and child. DMS takes the time to meet prospective families in person and lead a tour of the school to ensure our school is the right fit for the needs and goals of the student and family.
-
Enrollment Time: Starting in Feb. of each school year, the Director will enroll prospective families determined to be a good match for DMS.
-
DMS reserves the right to place a child in a classroom based on age, gender, and curriculum needs.
-
The Director reserves the right to adjust the enrollment placement of children at any time.
-
We are partnered with the State of Colorado’s Universal Preschool Program; students 4 years of age by Sept. 1st will qualify for UPK at Durango Montessori. Once your 4-year-old is admitted to DMS, you will receive a notification to sign your 4-year-old up for UPK services at our school. UPK is a program that pays part or all of the preschool tuition for 4-year-old students in Colorado, depending on your eligibility.
-
We require that students entering our Early Childhood classroom are fully potty trained.
-
New Kindergarten students' birthday cutoff date is 5 years old as of Sept. 1st.
