EARLY CHILDHOOD

Ages 3-6

At the Early Childhood level (ages 3–6), educational programming centers on a carefully prepared Montessori environment that includes sequenced materials across Practical Life, Sensorial, Language, Math, and Cultural studies.

A 2.5-hour uninterrupted work cycle is essential to allow children time for deep concentration, repetition, and normalization. Mixed-age groupings support peer learning, leadership, and social development by enabling children to learn from one another. Within this environment, children experience freedom within limits, choosing their work while learning to respect the materials and the classroom community.

Instruction is guided by careful observation, enabling teachers to provide individualized lessons based on each child’s readiness rather than a fixed curriculum pace. Grace and courtesy lessons are explicitly taught to foster social skills, independence, and a strong sense of community.

LOWER ELEMENTARY

Ages 6-9

In the Lower Elementary program (ages 6-9), important elements include a multi-aged classroom where Cosmic Education guides an interconnected curriculum. Cosmic Education provides big-picture lessons that foster imagination and help students see the connections between all areas of learning.

Subjects are not taught in isolation but woven together to create meaningful understanding. Students engage in collaborative work, including small-group projects and peer discussions, which support social development and shared problem-solving.

As independence grows, students are given increasing academic choice and responsibility, learning to manage their time and work plans with guidance from the adult. Learning continues to move from concrete to abstract; the continued use of Montessori materials support deeper understanding of concepts.

UPPER ELEMENTARY

Ages 9-12

At the Upper Elementary level (ages 9–12), educational programming is designed to support children’s growing interest in moral and social development, as they find great importance in ideas of fairness, justice, and how societies are organized.

Students are given more ownership of their learning, taking responsibility for planning their work, setting goals, and reflecting on their progress. Real-world learning is an essential component, with opportunities for service learning, entrepreneurship, and meaningful community engagement that connect academic work to real-world experience. Collaboration is becoming more complex; group work is student-driven and requires greater communication and accountability.

During this stage, the teacher's role shifts from direct instructor to mentor and advisor, guiding students as they develop independence, critical thinking, and social responsibility.
